videoOnce again, it is time to reflect on 2009 and the the hilarity that ensued with these viral videos. I will not presume to have compiled the ultimate list, but these are the clips that gave me the most sincerest laughs of 2009.

10: Suprised Kitten – OK. My GF will refuse to speak to me if there’s isn’t some sort of cat related clip on this list, so here’s the one that I find the most appealing.

9: Susan Boyle: Britain’s Got Talent – I really do not know what will become of Susan in the coming years, but I honestly wish her the most sincerest of congratulations. One of the finest voices this side of Celine Dion. Celine, my dear, you should honestly consider another career choice. I hear Karaoke is a really booming business.

8: Asian Kid Sings “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz – Just saw this last week…I should sell my acoustic guitar and quit.

7: Han Solo, P.I. - There’s not a Star Wars geek around that doesn’t get a seriously good chuckle out of this mash-up combining various clips of Star Wars IV, V, VI and the Magnum, P.I. soundtrack. It’s so strikingly similar to the opening of the movie series that placed Tom Selleck on the map…it’s…it’s…uncanny. Check out THIS clip for a detailed comparison on YouTube.

6: Keyboard Cat – I feel bad that the cat has passed away. Such a waste of grand talent.

5: “CNR” by “Weird Al” Yankovic – What could be better than combining one of today’s oddest/hottest bands, The White Stripes, and one of my favorite 70′s overly-flamboyant game-show contestant/movie star, Charles Nelson Reilly. Dang, I miss Game Show.

4: “Happy in Paraguay” by Day Job Orchestra/STNG – Obviously, Day Job Orchestra has nothing to do in their spare time, other than re-lip sync-ing short segments of Star Trek: Next Generation. I don’t know how they do this, but I haven’t laughed so hard over non-sequitor’s for a LONG time.

3: Signs - a Cannes Lions 2009 winner and overall excellent short film about the fine art of communication. If you don’t shed a tear at some point during this clip…you are NOT human.

2: “Hitler Makes a YouTube Video” by Chris Hanel – although this internet meme has been played out more often than Kanye West’s poor judgement, this particular “Downfall” variant produced by my good friend, Chris Hanel, is possibly the most original. This clip is finally reaching “viral” level. Read the story from Hanel’s perspective here.

1: “I’m on a Boat” (by Lonely Island) – Of course, nothing pleases me more than watching the SNL Digital Shorts. Especially, if they are produced by Andy Samberg and the comedy troupe, “The Lonely Island”. The fact that they could take advantage of T-Pain’s style of autotune before it became common-place, is pure marketing genius.
