Becky’s New Car – Another Fantastic Dreamwell Theater Production

Holy Mackerel, I don’t do a lot of “on-stage” acting… mostly, I do a lot of back-end stuff… lighting, sound-design and such… However, this time-around, I offered my services as an actor and auditioned for Dreamwell’s production of “Becky’s New Car”. I was Not At All familiar with the material, yet I placed my foot forward and rattled-off a bunch of stuff from the script that To This Day… I’m not entirely sure what I read. 🙂 However, the small part I DID remember was the part of “Steve”, a forlorn employee of Buckley’s “Super Car Dealership”…. the monologue was To Die For!

I could barely hold my composure “cold reading” this bit of dialogue… OMG! I could care less what part I acquired… I only knew… I Had To Be Part Of This Cast. Period! Now that I know the cast, I will say that it IS a bit of a reunion from Dreamwell’s “The Last Days of Judas Iscariot”: Dennis Aska (St. Peter) returns as Becky’s new interest, “Walter”. Adeara Jean (Mrs. Iscariot) comes back as this performance’s Sound Designer, Brian Tanner (Pontius Pilate) is this show’s Director, and I (Satan) return as Becky’s husband, “Joe”. Well… It’s gonna be a good show. Honest! The show runs from May 9, 10, 16, and 17 at the Unitarian Universalist Society Church… 10 S. Gilbert St. Iowa City. Stay in-touch with Dreamwell Theatre for the exact times for each evenings show.
